 How To Join

CUSS is a student run society for members of the university. There are currently two types of membership available:

  • Life Membership - £9
  • One Year Membership - £5
Members of Trinity College are also encouraged to join the Trinity College Science Society (TCSS) which they may join free of charge. TCSS offers a wide range of science events which all members of the University are welcome to attend.

You can join CUSS at any of our events, or online by using our web form.

 Interested Mailing List

The Society also maintains a list of people who are interested in the Scientific Society, but haven't quite made up their minds to join or need more convincing first. People on the interested list are kept updated on our events by email and also receive a cut-down version of the mailing service we provide to our members. To join this list, send a note to our Membership Officer.

 Benefits for Members

Membership of the Cambridge University Scientific Society entitles you to:

  • Free entry to all lectures
  • Discounted ticket prices for social events such as the Christmas and Founders' Dinners
  • Automatic membership of the Oxford University Scientific Society and hence entitlement to attend any of their events as a CUSS member
  • 10% discount on science books and any other item related to your course (on negotiation) on the 3rd Floor at Waterstone's, 22 Sidney Street, Cambridge
  • Members are kept updated, by email and pigeonhole (or Royal Mail) of all our events

The membership fees we collect are used to fund the running of the society, particularly in publicity and looking after our distinguished guests and speakers. We are fortunate to also receive sponsorship from several companies, allowing us to provide one of the lowest membership fees of the University science societies.
