Lent Term Programme
A printable version of the Term Card is available.
For Lent term, the talks at SciSoc swipe across a vast range of scientific disciplines, highlighting some examples of the riveting, ground-breaking research that is currently taking place across the country. We will welcome Prof Kevin Warwick to illuminate the reality of Cyborg research. Sir David Baulcombe, the co-discoverer of Small Interfering RNA (siRNA), will discuss the current perspective of this exotic RNA variety. From HIV research over universal patterns in foraging to the surprising cognitive ability of ravens and crows, our speakers offer a lot of insight into the astonishing range of current research.
In addition, we will offer a different perspective to the issue of renewable energies as Schlumberger's Henry Edmundson will consider the role of Oil and Gas in the next three decades. And as a specialhighlight, we are pleased to welcome Lord Robert Winston, who will address his audience in week two.
