Committee for the year 2010 - 2011

President
Daniel Röthig (Homerton)

Navigating the biggest science society of Cambridge through its rapid current developments is one of the greatest privileges a Physics undergraduate may dream of. As we continue to expand our event quality, social events, and member accessibility, Peter and I work to maintain the structure and profile of SciSoc, and to make sure the committee can get their jobs done. Ultimately, its the great team you can read about below that makes this taks at all possible. president@scisoc.com

President
Peter Hatfield (Pembroke)

I'm Peter, a 1st Year Applied Mathematician at Pembroke. As Presidents, Daniel and I are responsible for the overall organisation of the society. We plan meetings, co-ordinate the committee, represent the society within the university and look for the long term aims of the Scisoc. It's great fun and we have a fantastic committee to work with. It's your society , so please get in touch with us at president@scisoc.com with any ideas or suggestions, or say hello in person! We look forwards to seeing you soon!

Director for Sponsorship
Zsigmond Varga (King's)

Hello everyone! I am Zsigi from Budapest, Hungary and I'm a first year ChemEng at King's. I love to play Tennis and Bridge or go for a bike ride. I am responsible for sponsors of our society, ensuring that they are all up to date about who our speakers are and about any events that we organize. Good partnerships with our supporters forms the base for Scisoc upon which our EC can build. I try to find new financial partners and resources to be able to realize the great ideas that members of SciSoc come up with. Arrangements and deals with local businesses in Cambridge bag our members opportunities that no other students have. Looking forward to seeing you at our events! - Zsigi

Director for Membership

Co-Director for Events and Logistics
David Joseph (Pembroke)

Hi, I'm David and my role in partnership with Clare is to arrange the logistics of all the SciSoc events. This includes inviting speakers and if they say YES, ensuring they have a good time. As well as organizing parties formals and other socail events. I have some ambitous events idea for the 2010-11 year so watch this space - you won't want to miss them!  While a serious to challenge to organize these new events will continue the ever upward improvement of our great society!

Co-Director for Events and Logistics
Clare Bernstein (King's)

Hi, I'm Clare and, together with David, I help to plan and organise SciSoc events. It's my job to think up potential speakers and contact them. I am also involved in the running of each event in ensuring everyone knows what their job is on the night. I also help with planning the Annual Founders' Dinner and the Science Societies' Garden Party which is run jointly with several other Cambridge societies.

Director for Digital Publicity and Marketing
Julia Reinert (Sidney Sussex)

Hey, I’m Julia, a first year NatSci doing biological options. As SciSoc’s digital publicity officer it is my job to keep you informed about talks and other SciSoc events. I’m sending e-mails to our SciSoc members, creating facebook groups and putting talks online on talks.cam.ac.uk. I hope to see a lot of you at the next event!

Director for Offline Publicity and Marketing
Bethany Jones (Jesus)

I’m a first year reading Biological Natural Sciences at Jesus College. I’ve always been interested in loads of different areas of science, so I jumped at the chance to get involved with SciSoc. My role is to obtain the relevant publicity documents (posters, acetates etc) for each event and to get them distributed so that you get to hear about them! In the marketing team we try to access as broad a range of students as possible, scientists and non-scientists alike.

Director for Information Technology
Advait Sarkar (Emmanuel)

Hi there, I'm Advait, a first year CompSci from Emma. My work mostly involves maintaining the SciSoc website, making sure everything is working and current, and helping to set up the projectors and displays before each talk. I also help Julia maintain the information on our facebook page. My joining SciSoc was the product of a series of strange coincidences, but I'm glad it all worked out the way it did. I can be contacted at it@scisoc.com.
