Executive Committee 2011 - 2012
President
Clare Bernstein (King's)
I'm Clare, a third year BioNatsci from King's. As presidents, Zsigi and I are responsible for the overall running of the society ensuring the long-term objectives are kept in mind. We plan meetings, co-ordinate the committee, and represent the society within the university. It's a lot of fun and we have a great committee to work with. If you have any ideas or suggestions please get in touch with us at president@scisoc.com, or say hello in person!
President
Zsigmond Varga (King's)
Hi, I'm Zsigi, a 3rd year Chemical Engineer from King's. As Presidents, Clare and I are responsible for running the society: We plan meetings, represent the society within the university and look for the long term aims and development of Scisoc. We also continue to expand and improve the quality of our events, socials, and membership experience. Ultimately, it's the great team you can read about below that makes SciSoc happen. We look forward to seeing you soon at one of our events or contact us at president@scisoc.com!
Director for Information Technology
Advait Sarkar (Emmanuel)
Hi there, I'm Advait, a third year CompSci from Emma. My work mostly involves maintaining the SciSoc website, making sure everything is working and current, and helping to set up the projectors and displays before each talk. I also help Julia maintain our online presence on social networks and talks.cam. My joining SciSoc was the product of a series of strange coincidences, but I'm glad it all worked out the way it did. I can be contacted at it@scisoc.com.
Secretary & Director for Membership
Julia Reinert (Sidney Sussex)
Hi, I'm Julia, a third year NatSci at Sidney Sussex College. As Secretary of SciSoc, I establish records of SciSoc meetings and events, maintain the membership database and assist in all branches of the society's work. If there's anything you want to know about us or if you're interested in joining the general committee, send me an e-mail (enquiries@scisoc.com). I'm looking forward to meeting you at our events!
Junior Treasurer & Director for Sponsorship
Hans-Joachim Sonntag (King's)
Hey! I am Hans from Cologne, Germany, and I am currently doing the second year of the Mathematical Tripos at King's College. The roles of Junior Treasurer and Director of Sponsorship have been merged this year, which makes me responsible for all financial aspects in the society. I negotiate with our sponsors and seek to provide SciSoc with enough money to realise all the great events we run. I am very much looking forward to yet another exciting year with lots of science!
Co-Director for Events and Logistics
Joseph Harvey (Pembroke)
Hi, I'm Joseph and my role in partnership with Kadi is to arrange the logistics of all the SciSoc events. This includes inviting speakers and if they say YES, ensuring they have a good time. As well as organizing parties formals and other social events, I have some ambitious events ideas for the 2011-12 year so watch this space - you won't want to miss them! While a serious to challenge to organize these new events will continue the ever upward improvement of our great society!
Co-Director for Events and Logistics
Kadi Saar (Trinity)
Hi, I'm Kadi and, together with Joseph, I help to plan and organise SciSoc events. It's my job to think up potential speakers and contact them. I am also involved in the running of each event in ensuring everyone knows what their job is on the night. I also help with planning the Annual Founders' Dinner and the Science Societies' Garden Party which is run jointly with several other Cambridge societies.
